In Honor of Dying

In the presence of mystery, we give ourselves over in trust
We open our hearts and spirit calms us.

We reach into depths of knowing, a spaciousness of oneness
Part here – part there, we walk the tightrope of life and death.

One hand holds our tears, another welcomes us with smiles
I am not alone. I am surrounded here and there by the love I allow in.

Without fear, I am overwhelmed by love, I am alive in my dying
I share this joy with you who share your giving with me:
To live always like you are dying, each moment a dying to the next.

The cells of life replenish themselves
each cell a new birth into discovery and learning
A chance anew to honor the moment when
life and death blend into one.

I am atoms of energy blending and changing,
releasing my vibrancy, my spirit,
becoming one with the universe,
one with you, whose energy also blends and changes.

No separateness in the wider picture
no boundaries on earth from the moon’s view.

The clouds are parting.
It is time to leap into the sun.
I sing a prayer for you.
Peace be with you as we journey on separate roads – temporarily.

Remember, the oneness never ends
It circles and recycles, blends and changes
It looks different on the surface, but it is ours, nonetheless.
